Story overview:

Seventeen-year-old Isabella Swan (Bella) decides to move in with her father. Bella’s mom, Renée, is caught up in the life of her new husband. Rather than getting in her way, Bella decides to leave the warmth of Phoenix and enter the rainy and dreary atmosphere of Washington.

It doesn’t take long for Bella to fit in with the children at her new school. In fact, they all see her as a sort of celebrity. That is, all but one boy named Edward Cullen, who stays as far away from her as possible.

Bella is infatuated with Edward and doesn’t know why he keeps his distance. In time she learns his big secret and the two of them fall in love, but this is just the beginning. Bella soon learns that the world of Edward isn’t all she bargained for.

My thoughts:

I’ve always like the idea of Vampire stories. In fact, one of my favorite animes of all time is Vampire Hunter D, and I loved the novel version too. That said, with the Twilight series, I watched the first movie and thought it was OK. When I read the book I noticed that the movie followed it pretty well, but the biggest difference is that the book is much slower. So much so that I got pretty bored with it at times. Would I recommend this to Vampire fans? Probably not; it isn’t really a Vampire story, it’s a romance novel that uses vampires to attract attention. My advice is to watch the movie and don’t bother with the book, that is, unless you are one of those who really likes romantic centered tales. I for one am not a big fan.

Things to consider:

Overall, this story is pretty clean. No major language or inappropriate sexual scenes, and other than one central fight, there really isn’t much in the way of violence. This would be appropriate for a younger audience in that regard, but the tone of the story is really geared towards teenagers. I found this book to be a very touching story with an interesting setting. The time period, the place, and the characters come to life in this wonderful story. I don’t want to give too much away but if you enjoy a book that makes you feel as though you are there…this is one! There were times while reading this I wanted to throw a few punches, and other times I wanted to stand between August & Rosie, and times I just wanted to pat the hand of the older Jacob. I’m sorry I finished this book…I will miss these characters.

I agree this is one of the best Novels to come around . I don’t get to read very often just for pleasure . I can tell you for me this book is a pleasure to read , savoring every moment of it , one of those books you wish would never end. This author is so talented in her writing , I hope they will make a movie with this book , her story telling is so vivid you can just see the people and places and feel the emotions of the richly woven characters in this story. What a wonderful gift of talent Kathryn Stockett has shared . I really hope we will be blessed to have more of her work to savor . I agree with all the other great reviews here , there is just not enough praise to offer for this work . Thank you very much .

I ordered the Wii for myself. I am 43 years old. I am loving it! My family loves it and we have lots of fun playing. Everyone who comes over wants to play the wii also. The graphics are much better than any other game I have ever seen. When I ordered it from Amazon, they said it would be here on a specific day and it was. No problems.

The Wii is a lot of fun. But, here, five months after purchase, I have to send it in for repair. Nintendo tells me the “card reader” is likely shot. It will not read any disc. I tried their cleaning kit, to no avail. Five months of use. My old Gamecube lasted six years, sometimes being left on 24 hours a day for weeks. My Wii, in comparison, was babied, never played more than a few hours. I will say that Nintendo’s customer service seems quite good, and they’re repairing it free. Still, a month without a game console is not fun. I thought, being Nintendo, the Wii would be ultra reliable, but Nintendo tells me that mine is a common problem.

I’ve owned a variety of vacuums over the years and this is the one I would rate the best. I’ve had the large, powerful machines recommended by Consumer Reports, and smaller ones, too. This one has the strong cleaning ability of the big ones, but is light and maneuverable at the same time. It’s easy to clean stairs and furniture without having to attaach a hose. Just lift the vacuum up and go to it. I would recommend this machine without reservation!

I know it’s a good book when I am sad to have it end. I miss the characters who became my friends along the way. The writing style is unique and colorful. I found myself laughing out loud at some of the turns of phrase. The characters and the story are sticking with me although it’s been weeks since I finished the book. The message and the images are haunting and memorable. I recommend this book to EVERYONE!

Purchased a 32 gig 3rd generation I Pod Touch on Amazon. No problems to report what so ever with the purchase experience and item. My son bought the same a couple weeks before me and had the same positive experience. I won’t get in to the tech side of things as that has been well served by the others here. What I can tell you is that this product is awesome, works great and we were very pleased with our purchase experience through Amazon. ( both times )
